When people look back on the Rucci’s Gym GPC Western Classic 2021, they’ll remember one name: Yianni Magoulias. The charismatic athlete managed to drop from 88kg to 67.4kg to achieve the first-ever 10x bodyweight total successfully completed by a Perth lifter.
Magoulias finished the competition in a well-deserved first place, featuring a 290kg deadlift, 245kg squat and 140kg bench press. A whopping total of 675kg!
Other highlights over the weekend’s 65 competitors included Ahmed Hulameh (Muscle Pit) taking out the 82.5kg division with a total of 752.5kg. Dan Maddock’s deadlift managed to secure him the 100kg division win, pegging an equal total of 760kg with second place, Jack Knowles.
Joel McCaughan (Muscle Pit) took out the 110kgs in dominant form with the largest total of the weekend at 815kg.
National champ, Michelle Hewlett, once again took out the women’s 60kg division and overall with two competition PBs in the squat (175kg) and bench (100kg), and an equal deadlift PB (185kg) to boot.
